Symposium on Thermal Energy Storage and Low Carbon Technologies: Part of the 1st International Conference on Net Zero Carbon Built Environment, 4 July 2024

The University of Nottingham has partnered with the University of Adelaide, Technical University of Crete, and Pennsylvania State University in organising the International Conference of Net Zero Carbon Built Environment (ZCBE) on 3-5 July 2024 in the city of Nottingham, UK and will provide a platform for knowledge exchange for internationally leading researchers, industrial experts and policy makers to share recent advances, experience and expertise in the areas of renewable energy technologies, energy storage, net zero carbon buildings, decarbonization of the buildings and its associated studies.

The TASTE project team, funded by C-DICE, will be one of the sponsors to work together with the conference committee to organise the symposium on Thermal Energy Storage and Low Carbon Technologies, which will be held on 4th July.

The urgency to address climate change and achieve global sustainability goals has never been greater. Low carbon energy technologies with thermal energy storage technologies as the representative have been recognized as the leading solutions for achieving UK’s net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Thermal energy storage (TES) that can store and release energy produced from renewables or waste heat from low temperature to very high temperature brings a solution to the intermittency and seasonality problems of renewable energy generation. To achieve deep decarbonization, thermal energy storage will play a significant role across various sectors, including dispersed industries (such as construction, cement, and manufacturing), buildings, and the power sector. This one-day symposium has invited researchers from around the world to share recent advances in thermal energy storage and low carbon technologies at both the material and system levels. At the end of the symposium, leading researchers in the fields of energy storage, renewable energy, and the built environment will participate in a panel discussion on renewable energy technologies in the built environment. We warmly invite researchers in this field to join us and engage in these important discussions.
