C-DICE is planning a sandpit on hydrogen and we would like YOUR help to generate the research problem to solve.

A town hall is a mechanism for generating ideas. In collaboration with HyDEX, we would like to invite you to join a town hall to create the topic for the C-DICE hydrogen sandpit. We welcome academics and postdoctoral researchers, PhD students and industry representatives from all disciplines, you just need an interest in hydrogen research to take part. It will be a lively and informative discussion on the research priorities for the sector.

The closing date for applications is 27 January 2023.

The session will be introduced and chaired by Dr Kelly Manders, Regional Development Manager, Cadent.

What is a sandpit?

Sandpits are defined by UKRI as having “…. a highly multidisciplinary mix of participants… to drive lateral thinking and radical approaches to address research challenges”. They are a means to develop novel interdisciplinary research, through a structured programme of highly collaborative sessions.  A C-DICE sandpit is as a tool to unlock innovation and investigate research questions by tapping into the knowledge and expertise of postdoctoral researchers. Postdoctoral researchers are at the forefront of their discipline and when brought together to collaborate in an interdisciplinary teams can create innovative solutions to investigate complex problems. Postdoctoral researchers also tend to be at the start of their careers, with considerable talent and creativity, and a C-DICE sandpit provides an excellent development experience. They can also win £30,000 to turn their ideas into real research.
