C-DICE Annual Conference: Net Zero Futures

The C-DICE annual conference is a unique opportunity for postdoctoral researchers and late-stage PhD researchers to hear from expert speakers, gain skills, share issues to accelerate careers.
This year’s conference will take place at the Holywell Park Conference Centre, Loughborough University, on Tuesday 20 September, during Postdoc Appreciation Week. It will enable networking with researchers from other universities, academics and industry representatives.

We are seeking sponsorship for the annual conference to cover the prizes for the poster submissions and enhance the pre-conference dinner experience.
Conference aims
The conference aims are to:
- celebrate the contribution that postdoctoral researchers make to research and innovation in general and to the Net-Zero transition in particular,
- enable participants to create career development pathways,
- highlight the opportunities and advantages of the C-DICE programme,
- offer participants the opportunity to learn more about the training, development and collaboration provided by ERA and UKCRIC facilities.
Support for postdoctoral researcher delegates
Caring Support Fund
If you would like to attend the conference but your caring responsibilities could present a barrier to participation, you can apply for the Caring Support Fund meet additional costs. The purpose of the C-DICE Caring Support Fund is to help postdoctoral researchers with caring responsibilities to offset the additional costs of caring incurred by taking part in a C-DICE activity.
Travel fund
C-DICE has established a fund to help postdoctoral researchers attend face-to-face C-DICE events where they may otherwise not have the funds to do so. C-DICE will contribute up to £150 towards the cost of travel and/or an overnight stay. Attendance of the C-DICE annual conference is eligible for a C-DICE travel grant.
Accommodation options
There are three hotels on or very close to campus which offer short stay visitors affordable and convenient accommodation.
Burleigh Court Conference Centre and Hotel
Burleigh Court, 4-star hotel, offers 225 en-suite bedrooms, and wonderful food without having to step off campus.
The Link Hotel Loughborough, a 3-start hotel, offers 94 comfortable, air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms, including lounge bar and dining facilities.
The University Lodge is not a hotel as such, but offers convenient and affordable short stay single accommodation for visitors to Loughborough University, in a great location centrally situated in the campus adjacent to the Pilkington Library.
Travel to conference venue
Located on Loughborough University’s campus in the East Midlands, Holywell Park Conference Centre is easily accessible by road, rail and air.

Net Zero Futures conference 2021
In 2021 C-DICE combined forces with the Energy Research Accelerator to provide a unique conference for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers whose work contributes to the government’s target of Net Zero Carbon emissions by 2050. Net Zero Futures: Skills and Talent Development in the Journey towards Net Zero was a hybrid conference held at the University of Birmingham on 27 October 2021.
